News and Updates

A quieter weekend for our competitors this weekend, but not silent!

Heading to Down Ampney for the EMCOS Red Dragon I.T. Stages is Suze & Matt Endean in their 1400cc Nissan Micra.

This weekend it will be Suze at the wheel in a very competitive class 1. . The event will be streamed on Special Stage Rally Video page, so you can watch how Suze & Matt are getting on.

.A link to live results will be posted in comments later.

Good luck guys and thanks for choosing SOCC!

It was a mixed day for the Hall Motorsport team at the Cramlington & District MC autocross at Ponteland last Sunday.

In the class 7 Peugeot Special, Rob enjoyed a very promising start to the meeting. . Unfortunately, a damaged oil filter housing brought his day to a premature end.

Running in class 6, for production based cars, James had an outstanding day in his Rover 25.

Giving away a significant horsepower advantage to the highly modified cars in the bigger classes, James remarkably battled his way to the Big Final.

. In the 4 car Final, James made an incredible start and was leading, not only into the first corner, but for several laps. Disappointingly though, James received contact from the 2nd placed car and suffered a puncture, dropping him to 3rd overall at the chequered flag. A stunning result nonetheless, and unsurprisingly the 1st in class trophy.

May 21st / 22nd

Once again, our members are travelling far and wide for their competition fix this weekend.

Rob and James Hall head to Ponteland for Cramlington & District Motorclubs Autocross. Rob will be running in class 7, using the Honda-engined Peugeot Special, complete with upgraded driveshafts, following previous issues. James, running in class 6, is using his Rover 25 and will be hoping for a trouble free day too.

We are well represented on the Debden Targa with two crews double driving two cars (i think that's right!). #7 Suze Endean / Cath Woodman (MG ZR) #8 Dave Leadbetter / Matt Endean (BMW 318) #107 Cath / Suze (BMW 318) #108 Matt / Dave (MG ZR) . Stu Spyer / Pete Williams travel to Bala for the Plains Rally, the latest round of the Welsh Stage Rally Championship. Running in the 1400S Corsa, they hope for a competitive run in the class through stages of Aberhirnant, Llangower, Alwen (North & South) and Clocaenog.

Best of luck to you all.

Great Social evening at Prodrive. Many Thanks to our host Richard Thompson.

An action packed weekend was had by our members competing on North Devon MCs autocross at Sugworthy.

#710 Brett Townsend took a fine A2 class win driving his Peugeot 206 - check out the pic for how hard he was pushing! 🥇

#10 Byron Townsend was also at the sharp end for honours, finishing an excellent 2nd in the Clubmans event. 🥈 .

Unfortunately, James Hall #631 suffered clutch failure on the Saturday, meaning that he couldn't record a timed run, ruling him out of the overall classification.

However, the guys did get the Rover 25 running and James was able to compete on the pace during Sunday runs. .

Congratulations all.

It was a good day for most of our competing members at their events over the weekend.

Young Keira Barnes showed great form at the Autograss Evesham Club meet. Picking up a couple of 4th places in her heats qualified Keira for the A final, where she placed 7th. .

At the Bath MC Kemble Targa Rally the club was well represented and our members were challenging well in their classes.

Suze Endean / Rob Thomson (MG ZR) finished 7th oa and 4th in class in the Clubman event.

Michael / Alex Jenkins (MG ZR) took 23rd oa in the interclub event and 1st in class after a fault free day. .

Duel driving pair of Gavin Rogers / Matt Endean (Mk2) took a credible 5th oa, 4th in class in the interclub event and 9th oa, 7th in class with Matt pedalling his MG ZR.

Another duel drive pairing was Alan Wakeman / Ian Hazleton (Micra) who finished well, placing 13th oa, 2nd in class in the interclub. Switching seats and moving to Ian's MG ZR, the pair came home 5th oa and 2nd in class in the clubman event.

Unfortunately Mike Thomas / Suze Endean had a retirement on the first test in their Austin Mini. A broken top arm bringing their day to a premature end. .

Well done all on your results. 👏

As ever it seems, another busy weekend for our members.

Keira Barnes is racing at the Autograss Evesham Club meet in her immaculate Nissan Micra. The event is a MAP League qualifier and Keira hopes for another good haul of points.

Anyone wishing to go along, location is; Dodwells Race Way B439 Evesham Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 9SR Admission = £10 .

We also have a number of crews competing on the Kemble Targa Rally, organised by Bath MC.

Cracking clubnight at Tuthill Porsche. Many thanks to Richard and Andy for allowing some of SOCC's Members to come and have a look around.

Mixed fortunes for our members out competing at the Weekend.

Lewis Ayris and Kim Bannister were out on the Cotswold Historic Rally in the RPS prepared MGB. Various test venues and regularity sections made this a very popular event and a big well done to Lewis and Kim for taking the overall win in the Clubmens event.

Less fortunate were Alfie Hammond and Peter Williams on the Phoenix Stages at Fulbeck Airfield.

A coming together with a straw bale and suspension issues kept them down the leader board.

Eventually the pairing finished 47th overall and 8th in class. The result does mean that they still head the 2021 SOCC Rally Championship.

Jack, David & Max in action today at Curborough Sprint Circuit today.

The 3 Junior Members of SOCC are also part of the Bill Gwynne Rallyschool Junior Team and today were having coaching from BTRDA frontrunner Callum Black.

Today was spent at Walters Arena with Tuthill Porsche for a pre East African Safari Classic Test.

Back when SOCC was formed the aim among other things was to encourage and support our Junior members.

The Stephen Paine Junior Challenge Shield is presented to our Junior member who the club feel has performed and promoted themselves the best during the season.

In 2020 David Burden was the well deserved winner of the Junior Shield and part of his prize was to spend a day at a test. And today was the day.

Big thanks to Richard and Andy from Tuthill Porsche for the support.

It could be you in 2021...........
